Parking at Lewes Bowls Club

There is a car park close to our ground, but sadly, this is often full on Fixture days.

However, we have arranged with Lewes College, to use their car park, so see the following directions.

Directions to College car park, Ham Lane.
Set you Sat Nav. for Lewes Bowls Club, Mountfield Road, Lewes, Post code - BN7 2XA. This will bring you to the Mountfield Road car park immediately alongside Lewes Football Club. The car park is a pay and display car park. It is very busy, used by commuters and visitors to the Lewes FC all-weather pitch, and spaces are frequently not available for bowls club members and visitors. If you are lucky, then park and pay for a ticket.

If there are no spaces we have made special arrangements with the College to provide free parking for the day.

First, drive into the Mountfield Road car park and head to the far end. The bowls club is accessed across the path to the right and pass an open grassy area, known as the croquet lawn. A large grassy mound will be on your right. Drop your passengers and/or bags off at this point to save carrying them further later. Then leave the car park by the exit, turn right and head 170 yards down Mountfield Road. Turn right into Ham Lane. You will drive past the College on your left and the back of the football ground on your right. After about 150 yards the road bends sharply to the left. Turn left immediately and through the gateway of the College car park. There will be a member of the club on hand to help with parking.

After parking your car (free) cross the road and pass through a gate to the back of the tennis courts. Walk around the path by the side of the tennis courts, then follow the rising path at the back of the playing field towards the bowls club. The club is not visible from the field so do not follow the path along as far as the garages. There is an entrance path on the right, before you reach the garages Turn up there to the top of the rise and you will see the entrance to the bowls club marked up on your left.

VERY IMPORTANT: Admittance to the car park will be between the times of 1.00pm and 1.30pm for a match start of 2.00pm, or 1.30pm to 2.00pm for a match start of 2.30pm. For security reasons, the car park will be locked outside of these times. On completion of the match, a member of the club will unlock the car park again.

It should be a 5 – 10 minute depending on your pace. The path is well tarmacked so easy for trolley bags and there are no steps on the route.
