CLUB FINALS WEEKEND was held the bank holiday weekend of 29th – 30th August. Thankfully, after a week of rain, the wet weather eased on both Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday morning  in fact brought warm sunshine and with it a win for Chis Sykes in the Men’s Championship who, by beating Peter Pratt 21 – 11, became club champion for the second time.

There was also a significant win for Sylvia Riddles in the Women’s Championship which she won for the 6th time beating 5 times winner Jean Long 21 – 13, and making her one of a small group of women who have won the women’s club championship 6 times.

Ralph Wickham had a splendid day winning both the Handicap singles in the morning and 2-wood singles in the afternoon, both times beating the evergreen Arthur Tapp, 21-18 and 13-8.
